FAQs

Q: How can I get involved?

A: There are many ways to become involved in meaningful ways. The best ways to start are attending meetings, joining individual work groups, signing up for emails and notifications, and checking out our Facebook page. There are always actions taking place!

Q: Who is behind this group?

A: Our Planning Committee meets monthly to reflect on how our meetings are going and how we can improve. The Planning Committee consists of primarily long-time community members who have been active in environmental and social justice organizations. Some Planning Committee members are local elected officials and others are staff to elected officials. There are also some people who are new to politics. We are intentionally diverse by age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and professional and political experience. We formed this Coalition in response to the 2016 general election and the many people saying, “What can I do? I want to do something.” We intend to help people learn of existing organizations and join those, and not duplicate any existing efforts. For new efforts, we collaborate with local organizations to be as effective as possible.

Q: Do I need to join, or can I visit a meeting first?

A. There is no need to join; we don’t have official memberships. The email list is to receive action alerts and meeting announcements.

Q: How many emails do you send?

A: We try to send alerts and events compiled together to reduce the amount of emails.

If you don’t want to receive emails but want to check up on these alerts, you can change your settings to a digest. To do so, click on https://groups.google.com

Click on My Groups.  To the right of the SB Progressive Coalition, you will see Every New Message.

In the first drop-down menu on the right, click on Every New Message and scroll down to Send Daily Summaries or whatever setting you want to choose.

Q: Why was my message rejected from the email list?

A: Email messages are moderated so that you only receive messages pertaining to upcoming meetings, events, or actions.

If you have an article you’d like to share, consider sharing it on our Facebook group page:

Q: I have an idea for a new work group. How do I propose it?

A: You may submit a suggestion for a group or other issue here.
